March 2015
Dear Parents,
In this part of the school year, we are starting our Addition and Subtraction of Integers and Rational Numbers unit in math. This unit is a fun topic in the seventh grade curriculum. The purpose of this unit is to introduce your children to where they will encounter adding positive and negative numbers in their everyday lives. They will be exposed to a few new vocabulary words in which they will need to memorize and comprehend.
We will begin by learning to add integers on a number line. Next we will explore how to add and subtract rational numbers. We will conclude with a lesson of how to apply these concepts in our daily lives. These lessons will expand your child’s knowledge and understanding of math.
On the website, we have split the unit up into different sections. In each section, you will see videos and explanations on each topic that will help to clarify at home what we have learned in class.
If your child needs any further assistance in any of these topics, I have extra help in my classroom after school Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm. If you need to contact me directly, please feel free wit email me.
Sincerely,
Carly Bock
